From Mother Earth, the female spirit rises with confidence and grace. The heat in Todos Santos this year inspired me to capture the female form in a different way than usual in two related paintings

The Light from Within

After recently finishing a trio of paintings of shoes and talking about dancing the night away in a flowing red dress, I thought it appropriate to paint a dancer wearing a red dress.  With knockout shoes.  Only a young dancer could hold that pose for long.  I love how all the dynamic colours come together in this painting.

An abandoned brick farm house is a great place to practice your moves.  The light coming through what is left of the roof becomes the spotlight.

I have always dreamed of dancing the night away in a flowing red dress but have never owned one.   These shoes are made for dancing and beautifully complete the vision.

I just let my imagination run wild on this painting.  These 2 shoes have all the elements that would make my feet happy from morning to night.

Foot square show coming up and wanted to do something fun.  I love shoes (is there a woman on earth who doesn’t??) and I love colour, so I decided to do a trio of paintings of shoes.  This first one screams of spring with a killer red heel and sole.

I loved this image of a young women standing in an alcove just off the street.  I imagined that she was waiting.  For what or whom, I will never know.  But we have all done it many times.  Maybe not as patiently as she appears to be.

Waiting…

What fun.  A live puppet show. And a perfect setting – Parc Guell in Barcelona.  I loved the interplay between the Marionette and her Marionettist and of course, the colours.  Makes you think, which role would you rather play.  Or does it really not matter.
